Snapchat shake-up, Google appeals EU order, Warner Bros. dominates box office

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.

Snapchat‘s Chief Strategy Officer is stepping down. Imran Khan has been in that role since 2015, and came to Snap from Credit Suisse to help the company prepare for its IPO. The company says his departure isn’t connected to any sort of disagreement.

Google is trying to stop efforts to extend a key privacy rule from Europe around the world. The Wall Street Journal says Google plans to appeal an order, extending the so-called “right to be forgotten” beyond Europe. The search giant says the order will encourage countries to assert themselves beyond their own borders.

AT&T’s Warner Brothers is keeping up its domination of the summer box office. “The Nun” took in an estimated $53M in its opening weekend, giving Warner Brothers a box office win for the 4th straight week. The hit romantic comedy “Crazy Rich Asians”, also from Warner brothers, slid into second place.

Facebook’s instagram is making it easier to add emojis to your posts. Starting Thursday, personalized emoji shortcuts will pop up, just above your keyboard. It will only come up when you try to add a comment. It’s been in public testing since May.
