Yahoo Finance Snowpiercer renewed for season 3 ahead of season 2 premiere

Snowpiercer's TV adaptation returns for its second season in the US next week, and thankfully we won't have to watch it thinking it could be the final run of episodes as it's been confirmed that a third season has already been greenlit.
As reported by The Wrap, the show's US network TNT has already given it a third season order following the strong performance of the first season in 2020. Outside the US, the show airs on Netflix in multiple territories, including the UK.
Snowpiercer's season 1 finale deviated from the cult classic film with the introduction of a second train, led by none other than Sean Bean, playing the Snowpiercer's creator Mr Wilford.
Showrunner Graeme Manson previously teased that Bean's character would be "dastardly and fun and very well-dressed".
He's also got Melanie Cavill's (Jennifer Connelly) daughter Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard) in tow, and he's really gotten into her head to turn her against her mother.
The official synopsis for season 2 puts the conflict between Wilford and both Melanie and Daveed Diggs' Andre Layton front and centre, but teases that there's another major twist in store.

"In season two, an entirely new power struggle emerges, causing a dangerous rift as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton and to Mr Wilford, who has a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing," it reads.
"While Layton battles Wilford for the soul of Snowpiercer, Melanie leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity. "
Snowpiercer season 2 will land on TNT in the US on Monday (January 25).
