Keanu Reeves and Diane Keaton warmed the hearts of romcom fans everywhere Sunday when they reunited to present at the Oscars.

The two co-starred in the 2003 romance Something’s Gotta Give, in which they played love interests. Well, at least they were love interests until Keaton’s character, playwright Erica, chose Jack Nicholson’s reformed womanizer, Harry, over the much younger, more serious doctor named Julian. She left him in the middle of a special trip to celebrate her birthday in her favorite city, Paris. Let’s just say it ended badly for Julian.

Seeing the stars together again prompted Nancy Meyers, the movie’s director, to quip that perhaps Erica and Julian found a way back to each other after all.

Keaton teased, “It’s been a long time since you and I made that movie Something’s Gotta Give, remember me?”

“Yeah, you were amazing,” Reeves said.

To which Keaton responded, “You were amazing!”

Before presenting the award for Best Original Screenplay, Keaton and Reeves also both complimented Meyers’s script. They bantered back and forth for a few moments about their “good times” on the set.

Poor Harry?

Interestingly, Keaton earned her fourth Oscar nomination for her movie with Reeves. She lost the trophy for Best Actress to Charlize Theron for Monster. Keaton won her only Academy Award so far in 1978, for another romantic comedy, Annie Hall.
