Son 'Bludgeons' Parents To Death In New Jersey Home

A son has been arrested after his parents were beaten to death in their New Jersey home.

Prosecutors say 28-year-old Ryan Coles bludgeoned his mother and father to death "with his hands and an unknown object".

Edward Coles, 58, and wife Rosemarie, 55, were found dead in their home in West Deptford by another family member.

Neighbours told local media that police had been called to the couple's home before, but that Coles had never been arrested.

There are reports he struggled with mental illness.

Edward Coles was the former owner of Coles Music Service in Mantua, and he still worked there repairing musical instruments.

A statement online said: "Ed's gift of repair has touched many musicians, young and old, over a 40-year period.

"The Coles Music family will continue his legacy and dedication for instrument repair and music education. We are deeply shocked and saddened by his sudden passing."

In a message to the West Deptford High School Alumni Band Facebook page, Debbie Grigioni said ."Today a fabulous musician passed from West Deptford High School."

Family member Lauralee Houghton, who now runs the shop, said Ryan Coles briefly worked at the music shop, before being fired.
