Sourcebio International Plc (LON:SBI) insider upped their holding by 4.3% earlier this year

Insiders were net buyers of Sourcebio International Plc's (LON:SBI ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders bought more stock than they sold.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Sourcebio International Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Executive Chairman Jay LeCoque bought UK£130k worth of shares at a price of UK£1.29 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than UK£1.23 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Jay LeCoque.

Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Our data indicates that Sourcebio International insiders own about UK£5.5m worth of shares (which is 6.1% of the company). Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.

So What Do The Sourcebio International Insider Transactions Indicate?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. The transactions are fine but it'd be more encouraging if Sourcebio International insiders bought more shares in the company.
