South Park announces new movie will arrive on November 25

·2-min read

In the summer, South Park announced – in suitably South Park fashion – that as well as six more seasons of the sitcom, it would be turning its attention to 14 movies.

Yes, you read that correctly. 14.

Now, two months on, the long-running cartoon has confirmed when the first of its 14 new movies will premiere in the US – and it's sooner than you might have expected.

The made-for-streaming movie, which is titled South Park: Post Covid, will make its debut next month. Specifically, Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 25.

As well as South Park: Post Covid, a second feature-length instalment is just around the corner, with a further title eyeing up a December release on Paramount+.

Plot details are being kept under wraps for the moment, but hey, at least we don't have too long to wait until all is revealed.

South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker recently opened up about the impressive $900 million deal they signed with ViacomCBS, joking that they were now locked in for 75 years.

"Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we're really happy that they've made a commitment to us for the next 75 years," they said.

"When we came to ViacomCBS with a different way to produce the show during the pandemic, [the team] were immediately supportive and enabled us to try something new that turned out to be really well received.

"We can't wait to get back to doing traditional South Park episodes but now we can also try out new formats. It's great to have partners who will always take a chance with us."

South Park airs on Comedy Central. It's also available via streaming services including Amazon Prime Video and NOW in the UK, with selected episodes on Netflix. In the US, it's also available on HBO Max.
