Southend Airport's duty free, pop-up bar and WHSmith store are set to reopen as flights return.

The airport has four summer routes on sale this year with easyJet including Amsterdam, Faro, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca.

Flights return on March 29, with the first flight to Amsterdam taking off on May 24, however the airport has announced that its WHSmith, World Duty Free and the Pilot Bar will reopen from Monday, May 1.

But customers will not be disappointed as - unofficially - a spokesman revealed to customers in the comments that the new SKYCAFE outlet will open from March 29.

Passengers will be able to order hot and cold drinks as well as snacks at the new cafe, as well as a few essential items they would "normally expect to find in WHSmith".

It will also serve the "personal airport favourite", Laurent Perrier’s Rosé Champagne.

Southend Airport's website states the coffee shop opens from two hours before the first scheduled departure through until the last flight.

The outlet can be found opposite The Navigator pub.

The Navigator will remain closed for summer 2023.

Alongside the new Amsterdam flights this year, easyJet has added additional flights to Faro from Southend, up to four a week, which will see the airline's operations at Southend increase by 30 per cent compared to last summer.
