Southern California Edison to pay $80 mln to US over 2017 wildfire

Feb 26 (Reuters) - Southern California Edison agreed to pay the United States $80 million to resolve claims on behalf of the U.S. Forest Service to recoup costs and damages associated with the 2017 Thomas wildfire, the Department of Justice said on Monday.

The Justice Department said the settlement with Southern California Edison, a unit of Edison International, is the federal government's largest wildfire settlement in the Central District of California, which includes Los Angeles. (Reporting by Jonathan Stempel in New York; Editing by Leslie Adler)
