From Tuesday to Thursday, Southwest Airlines is selling one-way tickets for as low as $49. As a result, travelers could get their hands on round-trip tickets for less than $100 excluding taxes and fees.

The $49 tickets are for the airline's shorter nonstop domestic routes, such as Baltimore to Detroit. Longer domestic routes could cost up to $155 one-way.

Domestic destinations featured in the fare sale include, among others: Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Dallas; Baltimore; New York; Boston; and Chicago.

Tickets for domestic flights purchased as part of the fare sale are nonrefundable and are limited to travel between October 31 and December 19 of this year, and between January 3 and February 14, 2018.

All Friday and Sunday flights are excluded from the sale.

Tickets to international destinations — such as Havana; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Cancun, Mexico — are also available as part of the sale but cost more and are limited to slightly different time frames.

Southwest Airlines is the largest low-cost carrier in the world, with a fleet of more than 700 Boeing 737 airliners. The Dallas-based airline offers similar fare sales several times every year.

This month, Southwest inaugurated service using its all-new Boeing 737 MAX 8 airliners.
