SpaceX Starlink launch LIVE: Record-breaking attempt for rapid reuse rocket as internet satellites lift-off

SpaceX has achieved a record-breaking eighth launch of one of its Falcon 9 rockets on Wednesday as part of its latest Starlink mission.

The launch was originally delayed due to “unfavourable weather” in the recovery area off the coast of Florida. Light rain means conditions are still not ideal at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, however SpaceX is pushing ahead with preparations.

“Now targeting Wednesday, January 20 at 8.02am EST for launch of Starlink,” the company said.

It is the 17th Starlink mission and will bring the total number of internet satellites in orbit to over 900.

The service, which beams high-speed internet down to Earth from its satellite constellation, was recently switched on in the UK having previously only been available in North America.

SpaceX will have a live feed on its official YouTube channel for people to watch (posted here). The Independent will also be live blogging all the latest updates from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
