First up, the hosts discussed Square Inc. SQ and its bitcoin-related announcement this week. The red-hot payments company said that it is testing support for bitcoin through its mobile application, Cash App.
While it's only a small test for now, it could be the first sign of a legitimate fin-tech company getting into bitcoin transactions (also read: Here's Why Square Gained Today).
Maddy and Ryan also chatted about Dick's Sporting Goods DKS, which posted relatively lackluster earnings results earlier this week. Still, analysts from JPMorgan upgraded the stock and declared the company a “long-term survivor” in the struggling retail sector (also read: Why Did Dick's Sporting Goods Stock Surge Today?).
Finally, the hosts dove into the latest earnings report from Walmart WMT. Much has been made about the retail behemoth's rapid earnings growth this year, and while Maddy and Ryan acknowledged this, the hosts argued that the company's in-store improvements have been its secret weapon (also read: Why Walmart's In-Store Sales Were The Real Key To Its Earnings Beat).
