Steven Stamkos makes instant impact in return with 1st period goal

EDMONTON, ALBERTA - SEPTEMBER 23: Steven Stamkos #91 of the Tampa Bay Lightning celebrates after scoring a goal against the Dallas Stars during the first period in Game Three of the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Final at Rogers Place on September 23, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Steven Stamkos certainly knows how to make an entrance.

Stamkos made his much-anticipated return to the lineup during Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, playing his first game since Feb. 25 and evidently hasn’t lost a step.

During his third shift, Stamkos wired a picture-perfect shot into the top corner past Dallas Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning a 2-0 lead early in the game. It was his first shot of the contest and he’s still as dangerous as ever.

It’s almost comical that the Lightning can add a former 60-goal scorer to their fourth line after a seven-month absence, but such are the circumstances of this unprecedented playoff format.

In any event, this is undoubtedly the coolest moment of the playoffs - sorry, Stars fans.
