STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-Deutsche Post rises on Euro STOXX 50 inclusion

Deutsche Post (Other OTC: DPSGY - news) shares rise 3.3 percent after index provider STOXX says the stock will be joining the euro zone's blue-chip Euro STOXX 50 (Zurich: ^STOXX50E - news) on Sept. 23, fuelling buying interest from investors that track the benchmark.

Deutsche Post, the world's number one postal and logistics group by revenue, will be replacing steelmaker ArcelorMittal (Other OTC: AMSYF - news) .

When a stock joins an index, volumes jump due to a spike in demand from exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and derivatives providers.

According to Societe Generale (Paris: FR0000130809 - news) index analysts, the demand stemming from inclusion in the index will represent about 33 million shares, or the equivalent of nearly 11 days' trading for Deutsche Post's stock, while the supply of ArcelorMittal stock will represent about 35 million shares, of 3.4 days of trading.

ArcelorMittal's stock rises 2.8 percent on Monday, recovering from a 9 percent drop since mid-August and rallying along with mining stocks, boosted by better-than-expected Chinese manufacturing data.
