'Stolen' bank card use to pre-pay for £300 restaurant meal sparks police probe
AN ITALIAN restaurant in Wimborne is £300 down after a reported stolen bank card was used to pay for a meal for five.
Police are investigating the alleged fraud and say that on Sunday, February 12 a pre-payment was made over the phone for a meal at Topogigio in Mill Lane, Wimborne.
A group of five people subsequently arrived and ate their meal, which cost around £300.
A few days later, it was established that the card used to pay for the meal had been stolen and the money was refunded to the victim.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man the police would like to speak to.
