Strictly Come Dancing’s poshest contestant has shrugged off his Chelsea roots to bag a near perfect score in a street dance.

Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing looked set to continue his joker status as he practised his couple’s choice street routine with posh pal Spencer Matthews looking on and laughing.

But he amazed judges and fans with a perfectly timed routine that might have been funny, but was a seriously high scorer with 29 points.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood said: “I did think it was going to be the homeboys of Belgravia trying to do street on the Kings Road.

“But I was wrong, that was amazing.”

Anton Du Beke, who is stand-in judge again this week, added: “You nailed it. It was your best dance by about 1,000 miles.”

Laing and Karen Hauer performed a retro street routine to C&C Music Factory’s Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) that won them two 10s and was a hit with viewers.

The reality TV star said: “Straight outta West Brompton!

“[Hauer] looks so cool and I don’t feel that cool. But it was incredible, best thing I’ve ever done.”

In previous weeks, Laing has had viewers and judges in stitches with a Hercules-themed routine that saw him don a long, flowing wig.

Last year, Hauer choreographed an equally popular couple’s choice street routine for then partner Chris Ramsey to PJ and Duncan’s Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble.

Elsewhere, Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse opened the show with an elegant American Smooth, and Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez came back strong with an energetic Salsa after being in the dance off last week.

Strictly Come Dancing continues with the results show tomorrow night at 7.25pm on BBC One.
