It was instead a revelation about Angela's dance partner Kai Widdrington that spurred fans to share their thoughts.
However, while praising Kai in her exit interview, Angela revealed their age difference is bigger than many viewers thought – he's only 28 years old.
"People keep making reference to the fact I presented Come Dancing, but that was 40 years ago. That was a different time. He wasn't even born then," Angela remarked, gesturing towards Kai.
"I keep telling him he's an old soul on young shoulders," she continued. "He's 28 and I'm 79. There's a 51-year difference in our ages.
"He has looked after me so brilliantly. He's a wonderful dancer, a great choreographer, but most of all he's a terrific teacher, and he has the patience of a saint, he really does."
After hearing Angela's comments, fans quickly flocked to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their surprise over Kai’s age.
"I'm just in shock hearing that Kai is only 28 #Strictly," one viewer wrote, with another adding: "Kai is only 28??? I thought he was pushing 40."
"I just found out that Kai is 28 and I'm f**king shook. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!! #Strictly," a third fan commented.
One viewer joked that they "demand to see his passport", with another writing: "Kai is 28?!!! He looks at least 37."
"The real shock there was being told Kai is only 28," a sixth Strictly viewer remarked. "What a gracious exit for him and Angela though.
"No clear next one out. Will depend on the dances they get and how well they are suited to them from now on."
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
