Freshly shaven skin is definitely a top-five feeling for me. It’s just so nice sliding into bed with super smooth legs or running your fingertips under your arms with no hint of stubble. Sadly, for people who get stubborn, painful ingrown hairs, that feeling of euphoria is very short-lived.

Like most people with curly and/or coarse hair, I get awful ingrown hairs basically every time I shave. It doesn’t matter how fancy the razor is, how I prep my skin beforehand or which direction I shave in. Inevitably, I always find myself tweezing out ingrown hairs that cause me grief.

A while back, I started using Alleyoop’s Smooth Operator Stubble-Softening Body Moisturizer and it’s been a game changer for me. It doesn’t completely eliminate ingrown hairs, but I can definitely say it reduces them by about 80-90%. Yes, it’s that effective.

I actually don’t use Alleyoop’s Smooth Operator on my whole body, though I’m assuming you technically could. Instead, I only apply it on the areas I shave (underarms, bikini area, legs, etc.). As soon as I step out of the shower after I’ve shaved, I apply the lotion to my skin. I also apply the lotion to those same areas the day after I’ve shaved. No exaggeration, this simple routine has drastically reduced how many ingrown hairs I get after shaving. And the ones I do sometimes get aren’t super deep or painful. I was so impressed with the results when I first started using Alleyoop’s Smooth Operator that I immediately purchased three more bottles.

My last stash just ran out, so I'm re-upping for fall. I originally purchased Alleyoop's Smooth Operator directly from the brand, but now it's available on Amazon. Even better, it's on sale right now for Prime Day! I'll definitely be buying more than one bottle while this life-saving lotion is only $12.37.

If you get ingrown hairs, I wholeheartedly recommend this beauty product. I don’t buy that many products with my own money, but this is one I don’t think twice about spending the cash on because it works!
