Susanna Reid admits to feeling 'a little bit agoraphobic' because of busy streets and social distancing woes

Susanna Reid has admitted that overcrowded streets and difficulties social distancing have made her feel “a little bit agoraphobic”.

The Good Morning Britain presenter opened up on her reluctance to leave the house in Monday’s show with co-host Piers Morgan as she discussed the busy area she lives in.

Reid said: “I think I’ve found myself getting a little bit agoraphobic because when you go out there are so many people around, aren’t there?

“You’re trying to maintain your social distance and people are just too close.”

But Reid said she was pleased that the weekend’s snow had provided a change of scenery as pictures were shown of crowds sledging on London’s Primrose Hill.

She said: “Over the weekend of course there was the light relief of the snow, and plenty of people were out enjoying the snow.

“It would be curmudgeonly to say anything other than thank goodness for a little break, a little respite.”

However, Morgan, who had been nodding along at how crowded the London streets were, didn’t agree with his co-host that enjoying the snow was necessarily a good thing.

He said: “The problem is, I don’t think the virus gets the memos about the respite.

“Go out, get fresh air, exercise, but don’t forget the rules.”

Morgan has regularly aired his views on lockdown and COVID guideline flouters on Good Morning Britain, calling out celebrities including Rita Ora and Laurence Fox for their behaviour.

He also slammed Towie star Lauren Goodger recently for saying she would refuse the coronavirus vaccine, asking why she hadn’t questioned what was being injected in her lip fillers.

Later in Monday’s episode, a heated debate with government minister Therese Coffey over the reason for the UK’s high COVID death rates led to Coffey disconnecting the call to leave the interview.
