Swimmer Dies Off Coast Of Isles Of Scilly

A man has died while swimming close to a beach in the Isles of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall.

The swimmer, who has not been named, was pulled from the water at Porthcressa Beach, St Mary's, just before 6pm on Saturday night.

The emergency services were called but despite efforts to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene.

The UK's Coastguard was also called over fears that other swimmers may have got into difficulty.

St Mary's Coastguard Rescue Team and the RNLI St Mary's lifeboat assisted but no one else was found.
