How Sylvania Platinum Limited (LON:SLP) Could Add Value To Your Portfolio

Sylvania Platinum Limited (LON:SLP) is a stock with outstanding fundamental characteristics. When we build an investment case, we need to look at the stock with a holistic perspective. In the case of SLP, it is a financially-healthy company with a a buoyant growth outlook, not yet factored into the price. In the following section, I expand a bit more on these key aspects. For those interested in digger a bit deeper into my commentary, take a look at the report on Sylvania Platinum here.

Flawless balance sheet and undervalued

SLP is currently trading below its true value, which means the market is undervaluing the company’s expected cash flow going forward. Investors have the opportunity to buy into the stock to reap capital gains, if SLP’s projected earnings trajectory does follow analyst consensus growth, which determines my intrinsic value of the company. Compared to the rest of the metals and mining industry, SLP is also trading below its peers, relative to earnings generated. This bolsters the proposition that SLP’s price is currently discounted.

SLP’s strong financial health means that all of its upcoming liability payments are able to be met by its current cash and short-term investment holdings. This suggests prudent control over cash and cost by management, which is an important determinant of the company’s health. SLP appears to have made good use of debt, producing operating cash levels of 49.07x total debt in the prior year. This is a strong indication that debt is reasonably met with cash generated.
