Yahoo Finance Tabitha from “Bewitched” now looks like a seriously magical woman
Before Harry Potter, there was the 1960s sitcom Bewitched, about a not-so-average housewife with a magical secret. With her twitching nose, Samantha Stephens, played by Elizabeth Montgomery, was one of our witchy idols growing up. And we all wanted to be Samantha’s daughter with budding powers, Tabitha. The Bewitched child star — now a magical woman! — recently spoke to Fox News about her experience on the show and her connection with Montgomery.
Erin Murphy got the part of Tabitha before the show’s third season. She and her fraternal twin, Diane, landed the role because the two looked enough like Montgomery and weren’t afraid of the studio lights.
Much like the Bewitched family dynamic we saw on-screen, Murphy shared that the behind-the-scenes relationships between the cast members were just as familial. She said Montgomery was like a second mother to her, explaining,
“My parents weren’t standing there next to me [while I was working]. So I looked up to [Montgomery] as family, as a parent almost. We were friends outside of the set and she had three children around my age, so we grew up together.”

And remember Tabitha’s quirky witch grandmother, Endora? Actress Agnes Moorehead was just like another grandparent to Murphy.
Moorehead even called Murphy her granddaughter!

So what’s Murphy up to now that she’s all grown up? She’s acting alongside other former ’60s and ’70s sitcom child stars, on a show called Life Interrupted. It was pitched to her by Alison Arngrim of Little House on the Prairie fame. Murphy told Fox News,
“Because you know, we’re all child actors, we all want to continue working in some way, so we’re always pitching ideas to each other. I say no to almost everything. I have a bit of a reputation for being picky about the things I will and won’t do. But it turned out that this project had a group of my good friends.”

Tabitha is all grown up, but still creating TV magic! And learning that the behind-the-scenes of Bewitched was just as warm and inviting as the story we saw played out in Technicolor is pretty awesome, too.
We feel inspired to start wiggling our noses again!
