Taco Bell customers are losing it over the chain's newest menu announcement: 'I might cry'
It’s official: You can finally get a Quesalupa from Taco Bell again.
To some fast food fanatics, that sentence may be meaningless, but to others, it’s major news. The Quesalupa — a combination of the chain’s quesadilla and chalupa dishes — has made its long-awaited comeback.

The dish last appeared on Taco Bell’s menu in 2016, according to CNN. In the time since then, the cheesy, crunchy item has developed a cult-like status online — similar to the chain’s potato dishes and its Mexican Pizza.

The item is now available nationwide, with a single Quesalupa going for $2.99. Customers can also get a combo meal for $6.99, which also includes two tacos and a large drink.
For the unfamiliar, a Quesalupa from Taco Bell features beef, cheese, lettuce, sliced tomatoes and sour cream, all smushed together in a crunchy, cheese-filled shell.
The return came with a promise, too: According to Taco Bell, the item now features 50 percent more cheese than its previous iteration.
“Those rumors were true,” Taco Bell wrote of the item on its website. “The phenomenally cheesy phenom has returned. You said you wanted it cheesy, so, we went all-in on the cheese-in-the-shell Quesalupa.”
The announcement sent social media into a spiral. Twitter users, in particular, used the opportunity to profess their love for the item.
“The only thing getting me through my work day is knowing that after 5 years, the quesalupa from @tacobell will be back in my hands tonight and I MIGHT CRY,” one user wrote.
“I CANNOT WAIT TO GET TACO BELL TODAY AHHH POTATOES AND QUESALUPA,” another added.

The past year has seen plenty of menu changes at Taco Bell — many of which have spawned social media chaos.
In the summer of 2020, the chain announced it was cutting several fan-favorite dishes due to the pandemic. Some customers responded with petitions and protests. Then, months later, Taco Bell debuted a limited-edition brand of wine.
