Taco Bell customer divides TikTok with alleged ‘secret’ menu discovery: ‘Is this true?’

Taco Bell customer divides TikTok with alleged ‘secret’ menu discovery: ‘Is this true?’

The Taco Bell Baja Blast recipe is a heavily guarded secret.

Many fast food lovers swear by the iconic drink, which is one of the chain’s most beloved menu items. Now, according to TikTok, there’s an easy one to make the drink at home.

The Baja Blast “recipe” follows a recent TikTok trend, in which users have shared their “at-home” solutions for popular fast food dishes. In the past several weeks, TikTokers have revealed their homemade versions of McDonald’s McGriddles, Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap Supreme and Chick-fil-A’s chicken nuggets.

Now Ricky Reilly has his own fast food hack to share. The TikTok user posted his “homemade” Baja Blast recipe on March 14 — and promptly drew more than 1 million views.

As Reilly explains in his clip, he’d heard a rumor that Taco Bell’s famous Baja Blast is actually just Mountain Dew mixed with blue Powerade. So, the TikToker tries it out. To his surprise, the drink seemed strangely similar to the “real” version

“I think we might have cracked the code here,” Reilly said of his creation.

However, it might not be that simple. TikTok users quickly flooded to the video’s comments section, sharing their thoughts on the “secret” formula. Some were definitely impressed.

“Is this true?” one user asked.

“That’s how we made it in the college cafeteria,” another wrote.

Others, meanwhile, were concerned Reilly missed a few details. The Taco Bell Baja Blast is definitively made with Mountain Dew, but the Powerade might be something else.

“It’s actually Gatorade,” one user claimed. “Since Gatorade is a Pepsi product.”

It’s true that Taco Bell only carries Pepsi-made beverages, so this would make sense. Others claimed that the perfect Baja Blast formula also features a splash of lemonade.

We may never know for sure.
