DAR ES SALAAM (Reuters) - Tanzanian inflation fell to 6.7 percent in the year to August from 7.5 percent in July due to slower pace of commodity price rises, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Monday. The year-on-year rate of inflation in east Africa's second-largest economy has now fallen in the last 18 of 19 months. In the month of December 2012 it was unchanged. Inflation declined in August as "the speed of price increase for commodities in August 2013 has decreased compared to the speed recorded in July 2013", the statistics office said. Food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation rate fell to 6.5 percent in August from 8.0 percent in July 2013. The annual inflation rate for energy increased to 15.2 percent in August compared to 12.9 percent recorded in July.
