Yahoo Finance Taylor Swift had shiny mermaid hair for the BRITs and I'm obsessed
In case you missed it, the BRIT awards took place last night (yes, IRL! With real life audience members!), and they were very, well... BRITs-y.
Jack Whitehall got censored (obviously). Little Mix (of whom both Perrie and Leigh-Anne are pregnant) turned up looking like a goddamn Grecian chorus. The Weeknd wore an instantly memeable outfit comprising a raincoat and oversized bucket hat and, of course British twitter went off it. It was a lot to take in, in the best way possible.
Taylor Swift was also the first woman in history to win the BRITs' Global Icon Award - in her acceptance speech she said:
"I'm really, really proud to be part of this musical community, especially at a time when we all needed music so much. But what we needed even more, was the help and support we got from the NHS and the key workers who're here tonight. Thank you for everything that you've done for us...I'm so indebted to and grateful for my British fans. I love you so much for everything you've done for me... And, hey because of you, I even almost played Glastonbury, so..."
For the night, TayTay wore a jewel-encrusted co-ord, and her hair looked distinctly mermaid-y. To catch you up, she's been experimenting a *lot* with air-dried textures and bangs lately, from her balayage shag and blunt fringe to her mini-fringe, and suuuuper shaggy cowgirl braids.
So, this BRITs look, which comprised glossy waves (rather than beachy scrunches) is a definite departure from her folky look so far this year. Which leaves one question - are we in the process of activating a new phase of Taylor Swift's aesthetic? Time will tell.
Taylor also posted the cutest selfie with HAIM, captioned: "We meet up every Tuesday night for dinner and a glass of wine 🍷."
Side-note: one HUNDRED percent the fourth honorary HAIM band-member, no?
