Technology Platform Brings Big Data to Private Insurance Organizations Supporting Those With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

MediSked Connect Exchange Arms MCOs With Ability to Collect and Analyze Big Data

ROCHESTER, NY--(Marketwired - November 21, 2013) - MediSked LLC, a leader in technology solutions for home- and community-based provider agencies, recently entered into an agreement to license its MediSked Connect Exchange Multi Agency Business Intelligence Platform for its first managed care organization implementation. MediSked Connect Exchange brings the benefits of big data, real-time electronic information, analytics and intelligence, to organizations supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Connect Exchange provides private insurance and oversight with an unprecedented ability to collect and analyze financial, clinical and business intelligence data, including the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) Personal Outcome Measures®, from all members. Personal Outcome Measures are a set of CQL standards that ensure the quality of life and care for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These standards are evaluated upon 21 Personal Outcome Measures based upon each individual's unique characteristics, needs and desires.

"The Connect Exchange platform gives organizations with interest in the quality of care for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities the ability to access, share and analyze incredible amounts of data relevant to this population -- something that has not been possible until now," said Doug Golub, president and co-founder of MediSked, LLC. "This information can lead to reduction in ER visits, medical cost savings, ensure person directed service delivery, and overall improvements on the quality of their lives."

In addition to warehousing data, Connect Exchange provides an instantaneous information sharing link between providers and insurance organizations through its messaging and alerts hub.

Managed care organizations will use the data gleaned through Connect Exchange to receive real-time updates on clinical, financial and business intelligence key performance indicators in an effort to improve outcomes for enrolled members. Connect Exchange assists MCOs with alerting medical providers if health alerts are triggered, establishing preventative health measures by monitoring trends, and with reducing emergency-room and hospital visits.

"Connect Exchange is groundbreaking because it allows organizations from varying points of interest along the spectrum of care for an individual to share information, which until now has not been possible," said Jan Abelseth, associate executive director, AHRC Nassau. "Connect Exchange allows our network of Metro New York Arcs -- AHRC Nassau, AHRC Suffolk, AHRC New York City, ARC of Rockland and the Westchester Arc -- to not only share data but also send it to a managed care organization, which helps us better serve those we are caring for. For instance if a person is receiving day habilitation services from one organization and residential services from another, this system allows for the sharing of information about that person across different organizations, with different electronic platforms. This creates a place where tracking, planning and patterning can be accomplished to ensure the individual is receiving the best and highest-possible level of care and services that support person centered choices."

The MediSked Connect Exchange Business Intelligence Platform was designed by MediSked's engineers and experts in technology for home- and community-based provider agencies, such as those who serve the elderly, children, and the intellectually and developmentally disabled. Drawing from more than a decade of experience working with these provider agencies, the developers of MediSked Connect Exchange built the platform so that it can interface with any electronic database source system.

"Connect Exchange was specifically designed to integrate with any type of electronic data repository, from homegrown databases to full agency management platforms, making it easy for multiple agencies to share information," Golub said. "The information analysis that can be done once this data is collected is unprecedented for this industry."
