If you’ve never heard of the luxury Black-owned bag brand Telfar, just give your Instagram feed a quick scroll. Dubbed the “Bushwick Birkin,” the iconic “T” embossed bag is famous among its celebrity fans like Selena Gomez and Solange Knowles. The brand even collaborated with UGG earlier this year.
Because of Telfar’s rise in popularity, securing a bag has become a kind of status symbol among the fashion obsessed. Because new drops tend to sell out quickly, Telfar last year introduced the Telfar Bag Security Program as a way to ensure that everybody who wants a bag can get a bag. It also means that Telfar can remain a Black-owned and independent brand.
Now, the once-a-year Telfar Bag Security Program is back for a second time, with the brand accepting preorders through March 31 at 9 p.m. EST for bags that will ship between July 15 and Sept. 15.

What exactly is Telfar Bag Security?
For those in the know, this is only the second time Telfar has promoted a bag security event, meant to give preorder access to anyone who wants a bag. Telfar takes preorders from shoppers on as many bags as they want to purchase —”ANY BAG, ANY SIZE, ANY COLOR, NO LIMITS!!,” according to the brand’s website — and custom makes that exact number of bags.
Last year, the brand hosted its first-ever bag security stunt to prevent bots from buying up stock and selling them at sky-high prices.
“Last year we messed up the fashion industry and the bots with the BAG SECURITY PROGRAM — letting you get what you want, without the stress — and keeping TELFAR Black Owned and 100% independent,” Telfar wrote on its website after announcing the drop on Instagram. “You are our investors — and together we are making history again.”
What to know about Telfar’s Bag Security Program II
Telfar’s latest Bag Security Program is going on now through March 31 at 9 p.m. EST. The event gives shoppers the chance to preorder any of the bags they’ve been eyeing for a while, but take note that orders ship out between July 15 and Sept. 15.
To secure the bag, the program requires full payment at checkout, including taxes and shipping. Plus, there are no refunds or cancellations. You can also pay in four installments with Klarna.

If you’re eager to secure a bag but aren’t sure what to expect from Telfar’s Bag Security program, In The Know’s Senior Beauty Editor, Jamé Jackson, shopped Telfar’s first Bag Security Program last year.
After selecting her preferred bag, size and colorway, checkout was easy, Jackson said. “Once I purchased, it was out of sight, out of mind for me. Then when the bag shipped out, I received a notification from Telfar letting me know it was on its way,” Jackson said.
“I would definitely recommend the program if you have been fighting to get a bag and don’t mind waiting a bit for yours. Remember, good things are worth waiting for.”
Telfar’s latest Bag Security program ends 9 p.m. EST March 31, so be sure to pick your favorite color and check out sooner than later.
