Yahoo Finance Boris Becker pleads not guilty to criminal charges in bankruptcy case
Former tennis star Boris Becker pleaded not guilty to criminal charges stemming from his bankruptcy case, according to the Associated Press.
Becker, 52, is accused of failing to disclose assets and financial information after declaring for bankruptcy in 2007. Becker faces 19 charges, all related to Becker reportedly failing to disclose “money, property and debt between May and June 2017.” Prosecutors allege Becker failed to disclose stock in an artificial intelligence company, and attempted to hide bank accounts in Belgium and Germany, according to the AP.
If convicted, Becker faces seven years in jail. His next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.

Becker burst onto the tennis scene in 1985, winning his first major at 17. He won six major singles titles over his career. Becker also won a gold medal at the Olympics in 1992 for his doubles play.
In 1991, Becker reached No. 1 in the men’s tennis rankings. He held that position for 12 weeks.
