Tesla tumbles, Walmart buys delivery startup, Lennar jumps on beat

Here’s a look at some of the stocks the Yahoo Finance team will be tracking for you today.

Lennar (LEN) shares were higher Tuesday morning after the home builder reported beats on both its top and bottom lines. Lennar said it sold more homes at higher prices last quarter. The company gave a positive outlook, saying it expects an uptick in demand after the short term impact of the hurricanes passes.

Dow component General Electric (GE) is also on investors’ radars. Former CEO Jeff Immelt says he’s giving up his chairman seat months earlier than expected. Current GE CEO John Flannery will take the spot, effectively shrinking GE’s board from 19 to 18 directors. The move allows Immelt to explore other careers while also giving Flannery full control as he gets ready for a major shake-up at the company.

Walmart (WMT) wants to beat Amazon (AMZN) to your doorstep with its latest acquisition. Walmart is buying the New York delivery startup Parcel. It plans to use the new acquisition to launch same-day delivery in New York City. Parcel, which already delivers for companies like Bonobos, will ramp up delivery for Walmart and Walmart’s Jet.com. The Parcel buy is expected to help reduce shipping costs while also being able to deliver fresh foods with express delivery.

Tesla (TSLA) shares are falling this morning after the company severely missed production goals of the Model 3. The company planned to build 1,500 Model 3 cars during the third quarter. Instead, only 260 were built. Tesla blamed the low amount on production issues. Tesla’s original goal was to produce 5,000 Model 3 cars a week by the end of the fourth quarter.
