Tess Daly has revealed the thing she found most frustrating while filming Strictly during a pandemic.

The TV star said she missed being able to console and comfort Strictly Come Dancing contestants on last year's series, due to social distancing rules in light of the global pandemic.

The 51-year-old TV presenter - who co-hosts the BBC1 ballroom competition with Claudia Winkleman - had to remain two metres away from the contestants, dancers and judges as part of the restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus, while the dancers formed support bubbles with their celebrity partners.

"I loved it [Strictly] more than ever," Tess told Women's Health. "Of course, it was frustrating that you couldn’t hug people. If someone’s in tears or they’re leaving the show, it’s hard not being able to physically reach out.

"But Strictly is such a celebratory, feel-good show, full of warmth and sparkle and joy, I felt lucky to be a part of something that people were appreciating on a whole other level because they were stuck at home."

Fans will be hoping that the series will return later this year, as all restrictions are scheduled to be lifted by June 21st. A few celebrity names have already been rumoured, including former footballer Rio Ferdinand, TV presenter Angellica Bell, and Good Morning Britain's Ben Shephard.

Meanwhile, Tess also spoke about her solid relationship with I'm a Celeb's Vernon Kay, and how she missed him while he took part on the ITV reality show. The couple have two daughters together, Phoebe, 16, and Amber, 11.

"The printer, the dishwasher, the dryer [all broke] – basically everything you need when solo parenting," the star continued. I was like, ‘Okay, Vern, I really do need you around the house'... We’re soulmates, me and Vernon. It’s been a ride. And I love him more than ever."
