If you have medium to long hair, you know the struggle to manage wet, freshly washed hair. I’ve had long hair for pretty much my entire life, so I’ve tried my fair share of hair masks, shampoos and scalp scrubs. However, one of the biggest game-changers in my hair routine has been incorporating a hair towel.

Now you may be thinking, “I have a closet full of towels; why do I need one more?” But a hair towel is specially made to be gentle on your wet hair in a way that the typical terry cloth or textured cotton towel isn’t. Hair towels absorb water, cut down on frizz and decrease hair breakage that your heavy, rougher body towels can cause.

Since starting to use a hair towel — check out my favorite below — my hair dries quicker and feels so much softer. Plus, it makes blow drying a faster process too.

Shop three top-rated hair towels below and do yourself (and your locks) a favor.

Shop: Kitsch Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap, $20.49 (Orig. $22.41)

Credit: Amazon

Kitsch’s hair towel, which has a button to keep it in place when wrapped up, is made of microfiber, so you can expect a super soft and lint-free fabric. It comes in a few different colors, but I’m partial to the pink leopard print.

Shop: Crown Affair The Towel, $45

Credit: Crown Affair

Crown Affair’s towel is my absolute personal favorite of the bunch, and I can truly tell the difference in dry time after using it. I love its waffle texture and the elastic band at the bottom that keeps it from falling off my head.

Shop: Aquis Rapid Dry Lisse Hair Towel, $30

Credit: Aquis

Aquis’ hair towel, made with “Aquitex™ our proprietary moisture-wicking fabric,” promises to dry your hair in half the time of a regular towel; specially made for those with long, thick hair.
