'The Chase' fans call Paul Sinha 'an inspiration’ as he misses shows due to illness

Parkinson’s sufferer Paul Sinha has been called "an inspiration” by fans after revealing he had to pull out of The Chase spin-off because of illness.

The TV star and comedian, 50, who revealed in 2019 that he had Parkinson’s, said on Twitter that he wasn’t well so couldn’t take part in Beat The Chasers.

“New episodes of Beat The Chasers are on their way. Unfortunately, I wasn't well for the recordings and couldn't join in this time around,” he wrote.

The quizzer - who is known as “The Sinnerman” on the ITV programme – was inundated with messages from well-wishers after his post.

“@paulsinha you, like the great Billy Connolly are an inspiration to anyone diagnosed with this bloody awful condition. I do wonder if people with quick minds are more prone to it. Keep well x,” said one person on Twitter.

"You will be missed - required family viewing in our house and we are all huge fans," said another.

"You’re an inspiration and can’t wait to see you on there again. We’re all behind you!" another fan tweeted.

Beat The Chasers started in 2020 and sees contestants attempting to beat up to five Chasers to win big money prizes.

According to the NHS website, Parkinson’s is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years. Symptoms include involuntary shaking of particular parts of the body, slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles.

Sinha has previously said he “won't let the disease dictate how I live my life”.

“I refuse to live in the future, I only want to live in the present and enjoy the present," he said on Loose Women last year.
