‘Things my 13-year-old has taught my 1-year-old’: Mom’s hilarious video captures the power of TikTok trends

This TikTok mom shared the hilarious things her 13-year-old daughter has taught her 1-year-old!

It’s never too early to teach kids the latest TikTok trends. At least that’s what TikTok user Ashlay Soto’s (@ash_lay) 13-year-old daughter seems to think.

Ashlay shared a hilarious video describing some of the things her 13-year-old daughter has taught her 1-year-old and, spoiler alert, they’re mostly TikTok trends. The video received 7.1 million views on TikTok, along with thousands of comments celebrating the social media-savvy toddler.

In the video, Ashlay lists each thing her teen daughter, Olivia, has taught her toddler, Maya, and then coaxes Maya into demonstrating.

“Starting off with number one,” Ashlay begins, “Every time she sees a phone or a camera, she thinks she needs to stick her tongue out at the camera.”

Ashlay then turns the camera to reveal Maya sticking her tongue out.

Second, Ashlay explains that her toddler has picked up the “two fingers touching” meme, often used to express shyness on TikTok.

Third, the toddler has been taught to scream along with the “Hola niños” sound effect that’s popular on TikTok. Ashlay demonstrates, yelling, “Hola niños,” as Maya responds with an adorable squeal.

Last but not least, the TikToker reveals that every time her teen daughter sings the song “Chandelier” by Sia, Maya joins in by humming. Ashlay warns viewers that she’s not much of a singer, then belts out a line from the song. After a moment, Maya joins in by humming along, causing Ashlay to burst into laughter.

The retro accessory from Amazon that we're loving this summer:

‘This is literally the cutest!’

Viewers jumped into the comments to express their love for the sweet video.

“This is literally the cutest!” wrote one TikTok user.

Another responded, “She passed the vibe check.”

Yet another wrote, “The thought of your daughter trying to teach her these things is making my heart flutter… This is the cutest thing ever.”

Some commenters also shared things they taught their siblings when they were young.

“Better than [the] one I taught my younger twin brothers,” one TikToker responded. “I taught them, ‘Dude where’s my car?’ ‘Where’s your car dude? ‘DUDE!’ ‘SWEET!’”

“I [taught] my baby brother the ‘Naruto run’ as soon as he started walking,” another TikTok user shared.

Baby Maya might be too young to operate a phone on her own, but that doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy the latest memes!
