This waterfall in India can rival the best in the world

Welcome to the surreal Krang Suri Falls

These are Krang Suri Falls. They’re about 90 km from Shillong but estimate a three-hour drive. Alternatively, stay in Jowai and visit the falls early in the morning

Krang Suri Falls are a lot more easily accessible than earlier. A flight of stairs has been recently built to reach the falls. However expect to climb down (and eventually up on your way back) more than a 100 steps.

However, unlike some of the other falls, you don’t need to trek to reach Krang Suri falls. They’re still relatively more accessible than some of the other falls.

Which is why during peak season, you can expect a lot of crowd here. But if you go early in the morning, you may get lucky and see the falls with no one else present. You can also take a boat ride on the river above the falls.

The best time to visit Krang Suri Falls (and indeed Meghalaya) is September onwards. That’s when the rains have receded and the falls are in their full glory.
