Infamous Tiger King star Joe Exotic, currently serving a prison sentence for a murder-for-hire plot, has resorted to threats in his bid for a presidential pardon.
Exotic is currently serving a 17 year prison sentence for a range of animal abuses and plotting to murder animal rights activist and his bisexual arch nemesis, Carole Baskin.
During Donald Trump’s presidency, he desperately campaigned to be among the 143 pardons and commutations he issued as he left office. Disappointed, he raged that he had been “too innocent and too gay” for a pardon from Trump.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Exotic, real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, had moved on and started pressuring Joe Biden for a presidential pardon, sending the administration multiple messages from prison.
With no pardon in sight, the Tiger King star has resorted to thinly-veiled threats, suggesting that Biden could lose votes if he refuses to set him free.
In a handwritten letter to The New York Post, Exotic wrote: “President Trump was a fool not to pardon me.
“Before the election, millions of people were hoping for it as they know I’m innocent, most of this is in [Tiger King 2] and it will be the same for president Biden, the world will know the truth [when the new season is released] and him and VP [Kamala] Harris ran on justice and prison reform.”
He continued, in the four-page letter: “It would be in the interest of American justice for president Biden to pardon me before the holidays and charge those with perjury and other suitable charges, or the injustice is really going to cost votes in 2022 as the people wonder if this could happen to them under his watch.”
The next presidential election in the United States takes place in 2024.
Exotic claims that Allen Glover, who was paid to kill Baskin but never followed through, actually set him up at the insistence of Exotic’s business associate, Jeff Lowe.
In Tiger King 2, which was released on Netflix this month, Glover claims that he lied about Exotic’s murder-for-hire plot, and that he and Lowe were initially planned to kill Exotic by decapitating him with a wire when he drove past on a four-wheeler.
His letter continued: “We have sworn affidavits from Allen Glover stating he lied to the grand jury and to my jury that I done nothing.
“The feds and Jeff Lowe made him say I did and he under oath admitted that he and Jeff and Lauren Lowe’s original plan was to kill me to get the zoo.
“And even took [my attorney] John Phillips and the producer of Netflix to Oklahoma to the zoo and showed them where he hid the murder weapon, yes the plan was to kill me and it failed so the[y] set me up to take my zoo.”
Biden has not issued any pardons during his presidency so far, and does not appear to have responded to Exotic.
