TikTok is horrified by this Monster Energy drink pie: ‘Who hurt you?’

Just in time for Pi Day, a food blogger’s culinary concoction involving a 16-ounce can of Monster is shocking TikTokers.

Pi Day, a national holiday celebrated on March 14, honors the mathematical sign pi, the constant ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159.

And while most people love any excuse to enjoy pie, it’s likely that this Monster Energy drink pie recipe won’t be used to celebrate Pi Day.

Foodie and TV personality Donnie Mays (@kitchentool) gained 2.6 million views, 140,000 likes and nearly 5,000 comments when he uploaded his eye-catching — and perhaps stomach-churning — pie recipe.

Now, much like this baker’s all-styrofoam wedding cake, Donnie’s pie is causing a stir with foodies everywhere.

Donnie’s highly unusual recipe calls for the following ingredients:

• 1 16-oz. can of Monster Energy Drink (Pacific Punch flavor)

• 1 cup sugar

• 1 tbs. cornstarch

• Grated butter

At first glance, Donnie’s Monster Energy Drink pie might seem completely out of left field.

However, it actually follows a long and storied tradition of liquid-based pies — primarily those like the water pie that came out of the Depression era.

“A pie filling composed mainly of water might sound nutty, but it made sense during the harsh economic times of the 1930s. Whenever there is a scarcity of resources, creativity is necessary — and this is especially true in the kitchen,” TestingTable.com reports.

However, people living through the Great Depression certainly didn’t have access to such things as Monster Energy Drinks — nor Mountain Dew, another ingredient Donnie once used to create a viral pie sensation.

But Donnie doesn’t use solely carbonated drinks for his quirky pies.

He once used pickle juice as the hero ingredient in his pie — with apparently not-so-pleasant results.

TikTokers flooded Donnie’s comment sections with shocked reactions to his Monster recipe.

“Who hurt you?” one user asked.

“Glad you added that cup of sugar, the 150g from the 2 monsters wasn’t enough,” another user joked.

“No joke, I had heart palpitations leaning back in my chair watching this,” wrote one user.

“Just bc you can shouldn’t mean you should…” warned another user.

While most people will likely be celebrating Pi Day with more standard recipes like apple or cherry, Donnie definitely gets points for creativity with his confectionary concoctions!
