TikTok loves these Thanksgiving sides

Looking for side dishes that will be a hit with your friends and family this Thanksgiving? Head over to TikTok for inspiration! Whether you’re looking for something comforting, creative or just plain delicious, TikTok chefs are sure to have a recipe that’s perfect for you. Here are five Thanksgiving sides that TikTok can’t get enough of.

Decode and demystify Gen Z's latest online slang terms with In The Know's new glossary.

1. Pineapple and cheese casserole

If you’re looking to get creative this Thanksgiving, you can’t do better than this pineapple casserole. This Southern side is cheesy, sweet and savory. In short, it has it all! Just mix canned pineapple chunks, sugar, flour and cheddar cheese in a bowl. Then add to a baking pan, and top with cracker crumbs. Bake in the oven until it’s warm, golden brown and bubbly.

2. Kale salad with baked chickpeas

If you’re looking for a healthy Thanksgiving side that still hits the spot, try this kale salad with baked chickpeas! To make it, season chickpeas with garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper and olive oil. Then bake in the oven. Next, make a dressing out of lemon juice, olive oil, red wine vinegar, maple syrup and mustard. Pour the dressing over a bowl full of kale. Then toss with shredded parmesan, capers and the baked chickpeas.

3. Loaded mashed potatoes with bacon

These loaded mashed potatoes are so decadent! Start by peeling and slicing Yukon gold potatoes. Then boil them in a pot with water and salt until soft. Meanwhile, in a small pot, cook milk, butter, garlic and cream until warm. Drain and mash your potatoes. Then mix in the butter mixture. Top with cooked bacon, Gruyere cheese, chives and pepper, and enjoy!

4. Keto green bean casserole

Sticking to a keto or low-carb diet on Thanksgiving can be tricky, but this keto green bean casserole makes it easy. To make it, cook onions, heavy whipping cream, spices and xanthan gum in a pan until a thick sauce forms. Then, pour the sauce over a baking dish full of green beans and cooked bacon. Top with fried onions and jalapeños, and bake.

5. Garlic butter and honey-roasted carrots

Who knew carrots could be so delicious? While this TikToker is celebrating Thanksgiving in Canada, these garlic butter and honey-roasted carrots should be just as tasty for the U.S. version of the holiday. Start by peeling and thinly slicing carrots. Then, in a pot, heat butter, garlic and Italian seasoning. Remove the pot from the heat, mix in honey, and pour over the sliced carrots. Then, place the carrots on a foil-lined baking sheet, bake, then season with parmesan, herb seasoning and green onions.
