TikTok explodes over $10,000 toy that usually retails for less than $30: 'How is this a thing?'

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s a Louis Vuitton monogrammed kite that retails for over $10,000.

If you have a disposable income and a friend whose Venn diagram of interests overlaps between “designer names” and “flying toys,” Louis Vuitton has tailored the perfect item to buy them this holiday season. TikToker Jeffrey Huang, who roasts high-end designer items on his account, discovered the kite and created a video sharing his dismay.

“All I gotta say is it better fly me to where I want to go,” he said.

The “playful piece” — as it’s described on the Louis Vuitton website — was part of the Men’s Spring-Summer 2019 collection and was designed for “outdoor enthusiasts.” The kite comes in a carrying case and is covered with the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram because, honestly, that is what you’re paying for.

“How is this a thing?” one of Huang’s commenters lamented.

“Bet it doesn’t even come with the string to fly it. That’s another 3K,” another joked.

High-end designers are no stranger to backlash from the internet. In July 2020, Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta released a $2,200 purse that looked like a literal bag of garbage.

“I was browsing online joking about the cost of designer bags — and nearly spat out my tea when I saw this one that was pricey and ridiculous,” shopper Andrea Smith told The Sun about the purse.
