Can the Bissell Little Green Carpet Cleaner fix literally any mess?

If you’ve seen the gadget on TikTok, that’s probably the impression you’ve gotten. The app is flush with videos of users employing the cleaner against a truly wild range of surfaces and spills — from coffee and dog hair to spaghetti and birthday cake.

The hype around this thing is unreal. In The Know readers love it and on TikTok, users have called it “amazing” and a “game-changer.”

“I have no words,” user @brittanyalbaranoo captioned a now-viral clip of her trying the gadget. “I’m using this everywhere.”

The trick, it seems, is that the gadget works as both a vacuum and a spray cleaner, meaning you can tackle liquids and solids on a wide range of surfaces — couches, car upholstery, hardwood, you name it.

Here at In The Know, we love testing out viral gadgets. So, we decided to give this one a go. We ordered a Bissell Little Green Carpet Cleaner and put it through an Olympics of mess-cleaning. Here’s how it did.

What can the Bissell Little Green Carpet Cleaner clean?

To test this gadget, we used it on five extremely distinct messes: Red wine, ice cream, birthday cake, chips and salsa and, lastly, some paper confetti. Much to the detriment of this editor’s apartment, we spilled each of these items onto a brand new rug, then watched as the Little Green Carpet Cleaner went to work.

Red wine: This one was easy. Using the spray attachment on the Little Green Carpet Cleaner, we managed to get a full glass of spilled wine off a white rug — and it only took a few seconds.

Ice cream: More sugar, same story. Despite the stickiness of the ice cream, we were able to spray our rug then use the vacuum to clean this up with ease. Another win for Bissell.

Birthday cake: This one was truly remarkable. We smushed an entire slice of icing-filed cake into the carpet, and it still came right up!

Confetti: Obviously, this one was easy. For solid messes, you can use the cleaner like a pure vacuum. The suction is strong, and the gadget’s bristles help get even tiny paper bits out of a rug’s crevices.

Chips and salsa: This was our only failure. Our chunky salsa was just too, well, chunky for the Bissell cleaner, and the chips were a total non-starter.

So there you have it. Four out of five isn’t bad at all — especially since we literally tried to stump this thing.
