High schooler baffles social media with his ‘surprising’ kitchen discovery: ‘How did you not know this?’

TikTok is a near-infinite source of knowledge, but it’s also a place where plenty of knowledge gets repeated.

Case in point: A new, viral video showing how to “make” powdered sugar at home.

Powdered sugar, or confectioner’s sugar, is basically just regular sugar that’s been ground into a tiny, extremely fine state.

If you didn’t know that, don’t worry. You’re not alone. In fact, there are millions of TikTokers who are just learning the “truth” behind powdered sugar, thanks to a video from user boggle.boggle.

The high schooler has drawn nearly 10 million views with his clip, during which he discovers the sugary secret firsthand.

Boggle.boggle seems excited by the realization, which he seemingly made after viewing a video from another user, Anika Sonye. In Sonye’s clip, she shares her confusion over the fact that many people don’t know how to make powdered sugar.

“Wait so everyone doesn’t know you get powdered sugar from just blending sugar?” she asks.

Some users seemed to echo Sonye’s surprise. While many commenters on boggle.boggle’s video were blown away by the knowledge, others were simply stunned that people could be learning this for the first time.

“There’s no way y’all didn’t know this you’re joking right?” one user asked.

“How did y’all not know this THE NAME IS POWDERED SUGAR,” another wrote.

“How did you not know this?” another added.

Still, many commenters stood their ground. In fact, some were so shocked by the video’s simplicity that they suggested it was a prank.

“Is this fake it seems too good to be true,” one user asked.

“I can’t handle this,” another added.

It’s worth noting, by the way, that making powdered sugar isn’t always that simple. Some recipes also call for a bit of corn starch to help with the texture.
