Yahoo Finance Tony Blair’s former County Durham home on sale for almost £300,000
A four-bedroom detached property in County Durham that was once the constituency home of former UK prime minister Tony Blair is on the market, open to offers around the £299,950 ($387,844) mark.
According to Chronicle Live, Blair moved in with his wife when he was elected MP for Sedgefield in 1983, purchasing it for approximately £30,000. They sold the house in 2009 for an around £300,000.
The home was the beginning of a property empire that Blair has put together in the years since. In 2016, it was reported that his portfolio of properties was worth £27m in the years since he left office in 2007.
The home, which is advertised on the website of Wright Homes and Pattinson Estate Agents, states that “Myrobella House has found fame as the home of a former British Prime Minister and was visited by President George W Bush in 2003 as well as playing host to the Presidents of France and Ireland.”

The Victorian townhouse is described as having four large bedrooms, a kitchen with a walk-in pantry, a laundry room, a formal dining room, a lounge and three reception rooms.
It has been suggested that the house was given its name in reference to the Mirabelle plum trees that grew in the garden.
It is said to retain its original architectural and decorative features, including seven operational cast iron fireplaces, decorative woodwork on the doors and windows, ornate plaster mouldings, stained glass and patterned glazed internal doors.
Outside of London, the Blairs also own homes in Manchester, Buckinghamshire, and Stockport, as per the 2016 report. It also stated that the three oldest Blair children are said to own at least one central London home each, all within walking distance to one of their parents' houses on Connaught Street, which the ex-Prime Minister bought upon leaving office, said to be valued at over £8.5m.
