Yahoo Finance Top 10 most in demand job titles of 2020
Registered nurse, customer delivery driver and cleaner are all new entries in CV-Library’s annual top ten advertised titles in the UK, as the coronavirus pandemic impacts jobs that have the highest demand.
The top 10 most in demand job titles of 2020, based on postings by recruiters, are:
1. Warehouse Operative
2. Support Worker
3. Registered Nurse
4. Care Assistant
5. Labourer
6. Customer Delivery Driver
7. Cleaner
8. Production Operative
9. Project Manager
10. Maintenance Engineer
Companies, including Tesco, are stockpiling products in warehouses to minimise the risk of disruptions when the transition period with the European Union ends and new customs rules come into effect at the end of this year, which may explain why warehouse operative tops the list.
The rising number of COVID-19 cases hit the health system hard this year, and ensuing lockdowns have meant people have turned to online shopping in a big way, which is reflected in the fact that registered nurse and care assistant made it to the top ten.
The role of care assistant moved up from eighth place in 2019, to fourth place in 2020, the independent job board noted.

Labouring jobs dropped from second place in 2019 to fifth this year and administrator, customer service advisor, and quantity surveyor all fell out of the top 10 roles.
CV-Library also analysed its data based on the average number of times a candidate’s CV was downloaded, in each industry, by recruiters.
The following list reveals the most in demand industries of the year.

“This data gives an accurate indication of how the global pandemic, national lockdowns and living by tiered rules have all impacted UK jobs. The direct effect of the economy, and the government’s decisions, upon the job market has never been clearer to see than in 2020,” said Lee Biggins, founder and CEO of CV-Library.
“For those looking to begin the New Year with a new job, these industries, along with distribution, are the ones to focus on and it’s encouraging to see places where demand is genuinely high,” he added.
The most recent official figures show vacancies down 31.5% in the UK on a year ago. With unemployment expected to keep rising as the coronavirus crisis, lockdowns and Brexit hobble much of the economy, the competition for many roles is likely to be fierce.
But there are pockets of growth in the labour market, and analysts say developments in the year ahead —from current COVID-19 restrictions to vaccine advances — could mean robust hiring in particular sectors.
