Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews has disorderly conduct charge dismissed

The disorderly conduct charge against Toronto Maple Leafs centre Auston Matthews has been dropped.

The two sides have reportedly come to an agreement out of court and the issue has been settled, according to the Toronto Star’s Dave Feschuk.

“On Nov. 13 the matter was settled between the parties and the criminal matter was dismissed,” a spokesperson from the City of Scottsdale’s communications department shared with the Star.

According to the initial police report, Matthews and a group of friends were in Arizona during the summer when the Leafs star reportedly approached a car belonging to Fayola Dozithee — the security guard of Matthews’ apartment building — while they appeared to be intoxicated.

After attempting to enter the vehicle, a terrified Dozithee approached the group and asked what they were doing. The group reportedly told Dozithee that they “thought it would be funny” to see how she would react.

On the way back to the building, Matthews, according to the police report, dropped his pants and grabbed his buttocks, gesturing towards Dozithee.

Under Arizona state law, someone accused of a misdemeanour offence may settle the issue directly, generally involving a financial agreement.

Matthews first withheld the situation from the Maple Leafs, including general manager Kyle Dubas, who said that he found out about the matter via Twitter.

The Maple Leafs sniper has 13 goals and 26 points through 20 games this season.
