Yahoo Finance Tributes come in for Sex and the City star Willie Garson
Sex and the City actor Willie Garson has died aged 57 following a short illness.
The actor was best known for his long-running role of Stanford Blatch, Carrie Bradshaw's best male friend, across the hit TV and film franchise, and became an important gay icon for men and women around the world. He was most recently working on the new spin-off show, And Just Like That, and was last pictured on set filming scenes alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and the rest of the cast in Manhattan in July.
The actor's death was confirmed by his son Nathan Garson on Instagram. According to reports, Garson had been suffering from pancreatic cancer.
Tributes have been pouring in from fellow Sex and the City cast members since the news was announced, with Kim Cattrall tweeting that it was "a terribly sad loss".

Cynthia Nixon wrote that "he was a source of light, friendship and show business lore" and that they "all loved him and adored working with him".

Mario Cantone, who played Garson's on-screen husband Anthony Marentino, said that he was "devastated" by the loss. "I couldn't have had a more brilliant TV partner," he wrote. "I'm devastated and just overwhelmed with sadness."
Garson was last active on social media on 4 September, tweeting: "Be kind to each other... always."
