Trump wants to make Christmas trees great again...for $150!

As he proclaimed over and over on the U.S. election campaign trail, president-elect Donald Trump plans to “Make America Great Again,” and now he wants to do the same thing for your Christmas tree.

The real estate mogul notified his mailing list subscribers on Wednesday that they can decorate their Christmas tree with an ornament of Trump’s iconic red MAGA hat, made out of brass and finished in (of course) 14 carat gold, all for the small sum of US$149, or about C$200.

To put that in perspective, the average Christmas tree cost just $50.82 in 2015, or about C$68.53, last year.

According to Trump’s website, the garish ornament is “sure to make any tree stand out.”

While the self-proclaimed multi-billionaire seemingly rode a wave of populist support from America’s working class to the White House, one analysis found that his backers had a median household income of $72,000, $10,000 more than his Democratic counterpart Hillary Clinton.

So perhaps, the pricey ornament is within their budget.

As news of the gaudy ornament spread on Twitter, some users mocked its lofty price.

The MAGA ornament is already being resold on Amazon for $250, or about C$337.09, and, yes, it ships to Canada.

Trump’s website says sales go towards a joint fundraising committee his campaign has with the Republic National Committee.

Clinton’s website is also still selling memorabilia, but nothing is priced higher than a $20 T-shirt.
