Tulsa King Casting Agency Quits After Stallone Allegedly Disparages Background Actors

An Atlanta-based casting agency has parted ways with Paramount+’s Tulsa King following allegations that series star/executive producer Sylvester Stallone and an unnamed director denigrated background talent.

“We have chosen to part ways with Tulsa King,” Catrett Locke Casting shared on its Facebook page Sunday. “We will be finishing up next week and [April] 12th will be our last day. We send well wishes to whomever takes over the show. We thank all of you great background artists for your continued support.”

According to our sister site Deadline, a post shared on a private Facebook group for Atlanta-based background actors alleges that Stallone and an unnamed director on the Taylor Sheridan drama referred to extras as “ugly,” “tub of lard” and “fat guy with cane.” That same post calls out Stallone for allegedly asking that casting bring in some “pretty young girls to be around me” instead.

Sources close to the show tell TVLine that production only recently became aware of the allegations and is actively looking into them, priding themselves as they do on having a “fair and respectful workplace.” (We were also told that, creatively, production was trying to recreate and match scenes from Season 1.)

Update: Tulsa King executive producer Craig Zisk tells TMZ that he was the director on-set during the alleged incident, and that no such insults were made. According to Zisk, the scene called for extras in the 25- to 35-year-old range, and Locke cast considerably older actors, who they wound up using anyway. Zisk also denies that Stallone said anything about casting “pretty girls” to be around him, noting that Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin, was there during filming.

Screen grabs of the aforementioned Facebook post as well as an email sent by casting agent Rose Locke were shared by TV writer Julie Benson (Star Trek: Prodigy, Wu Assassins, The 100). “Got this disturbing news from my Atlanta friend who’s background on Tulsa King this wk,” Benson wrote on X. “Casting agent quit because she was so disgusted…. @TheSlyStallone what do you have to say for yourself, sir? Beyond disappointed, I’m livid.”

Created by Yellowstone mastermind Sheridan, Tulsa King follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Stallone), who is “released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla.,” according to the official logline. “Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a ‘crew’ from a group of unlikely characters, to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as well be another planet.”

Production is currently underway on Season 2.
