Yahoo Finance 2,000 UK jobs available at two-day virtual hiring event
About 2,000 jobs will be up for grabs for Brits who attend a two-day virtual hiring event next week.
Job-seekers across the nation will be able to interview for thousands of jobs from the safety of their own home, by “attending” job site Indeed's first National Hiring Days on 10 and 11 November.
Indeed’s new virtual interview technology means people can book their own interview slots for roles from across a range of sectors — including retail, logistics and care — and even wait for their appointment in a virtual “lobby.”
By delegating administrative tasks to Indeed, the interview process and the time it takes employers to hire candidates could be drastically cut down.
In fact, it reduces the time to hire from an average of six weeks to a matter of days — or even encourages employers to make on-the-spot job offers, Indeed claimed.
The hiring drive comes as hundreds of thousands of people have been made redundant as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing unemployment to rise to its highest level in three years.

As the UK enters its second national lockdown, the online event means Brits are still given the opportunity to connect with potential employers.
Indeed urged job-seekers to dress professionally and, if in doubt, stick to what they would wear for a regular, in-person interview.
“Virtual interviews might be a different experience than usual but some things remain the same,” the company said.
The event is most beneficial to those in the care sector, with over 1,000 jobs available from Bupa Care Homes, HC-One, Four Seasons Healthcare, Voyage Care Group, Care UK, Priory Group, Elysium Healthcare, The Orders of St Johns Care Trust, Maria Mallaband, Affinity Trust, and Sunrise Senior Living.
“Virtual interviews have been a really safe and effective way of finding the right people for our homes during the pandemic,” said Jeremy Richardson, chief executive officer of Four Seasons Health Care.
“Real-time face to face conversations and more flexible interview times to fit around the individual provide a great candidate experience and have speeded up the whole hiring process to help us get the right people into the right roles quickly and efficiently.”

In addition, 460 logistics jobs are up for grabs at firms DHL, Yodel and UPS (UPS), 300 retail roles are available with Morrisons (MRW.L) and Lidl; and 100 insurance roles are on offer at Direct Line (DLG.L).
John Hardman, chief people officer at Yodel, said: “As we prepare for the run-up to Christmas we have a number of vacancies across the business, and we’re excited to be working with Indeed to help those looking for their next role.”
Attendees should make sure they have a good internet connection but not worry too much about technical errors or mistakes — as employers are getting used to these things happening.
