Yahoo Finance Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder 3 won't take place Dec. 19 as planned
Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will get together for a third fight, it’s just not going to happen Dec. 19. The fight is being moved to a different date due to football, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.
The fight still could take place in December, but the original date currently features a number of college games and two NFL games.
"We're moving off because there's five conference championship games that day and night, plus two NFL games," Arum said. "So we can't go with the 19th; we're looking at other dates right now because ESPN advised us, and Fox advised the PBC [which promotes Wilder]."
Arum said he’s talking with ESPN, Fox and PBC to determine a date for the fight. Arum confirmed the fight would be held at Allegiant Stadium — where the Las Vegas Raiders play. Fans will reportedly be allowed to attend, though the stadium will be at limited capacity, and social-distancing guidelines will be enforced.
Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder have unique relationship
It was always expected Fury and Wilder would step into the ring for a third fight. The first time around, Fury and Wilder fought to a split draw. Fury won the second bout by TKO, and Wilder exercised his rematch clause after the fight.
Fury and Wilder have a pretty strong relationship away from the ring. Fury used Wilder as inspiration to get back into shape and conquer depression back when Fury hit a low point in his life. A few days after Fury defeated Wilder by TKO, Fury wrote a message on Instagram sending his “love and respect” to Wilder.
Though Wilder was disappointed with the loss, he also spoke highly of Fury following the fight.
