UK card payments jumped last week but still far below normal - ONS

LONDON (Reuters) - British spending on credit and debit cards rose 8 percentage points last week, although it was still 24% below its level a year ago, with the country in its third national coronavirus lockdown, official data showed on Thursday.

The Office for National Statistics also estimated that 18% of the workforce is on furlough leave, up a little from an earlier reading of 17%.
