Revealed: The UK’s cheapest supermarket in November
Aldi has taken the top spot as the UK’s cheapest supermarket in November, stealing the crown from Lidl.
Aldi was the cheapest of the eight UK biggest supermarkets, with a basket of items costing £76.77 on average, while Lidl was just 79p behind, with an average cost of £77.56, according to consumer group Which?.
Which? compared the prices of 47 popular grocery items and household essentials every day last month.

Asda was the third cheapest at a basket price of £84.42, followed by Tesco (TSCO.L) at £87.42, Sainsbury's (SBRY.L) at £87.79, Morrisons at £89.54, and then Ocado (OCDO.L) at £93.40.
Waitrose was the most expensive for the same basket of groceries, at £97.39 — £20.62 more than Aldi.

Which? also compared the cost of a larger trolley of 134 items which includes the original 47 products from the basket comparison plus popular branded items.
Asda was the cheapest supermarket this month with the items coming in at £328.15, followed by Morrisons at £338.16.

Next on the list were Tesco at £354.53, Ocado at £356.78 and Sainsbury's at £360.26. Waitrose was yet again named the most expensive supermarket, coming in at £369.80.
Aldi and Lidl were not included in the larger trolley analysis by Which? as they do not always stock branded products.
